On the splendid Gulf of Policastro, at the apex of the extensive valley below the gradual slopes towards the mouth of the river Bussento, la Tenuta, with an extension of about 12 hectares at an altitude of between 300 and 440 metres above sea level, is located within the municipality of Torre Orsaia, in the beautiful Cilento National Park.
The slopes that form the characteristic ‘sella’, from which it historically takes its name, facing south-west, host a vast olive grove that frames the Tenuta beating heart, the vineyard.
Its particular location, in a natural amphitheatre, gives it an ideal microclimate, characterised by mild and prolonged summers, continually cooled by the winds blowing in from the Mediterranean Sea, and by cold and rainy winters.
SUSTAINABILITY
Tenuta Sellata is a Bioagricert© certified organic farm.
From generation to generation, the long path marked by family tradition has given life to an organic farm that pursues quality and excellence, in constant respect of the balance between technique and nature, quality and eco-sustainability.
Being a certified organic farm means guaranteeing the consumer the absence of synthetic chemicals and pesticides, paying respect to the soil and biodiversity through clean, sustainable agriculture with the lowest possible environmental impact.
Tenuta Sellata is equipped with a water system that utilise the collection of rainwater in special cisterns and artesian wells that guarantee constant water levels, making it self-sufficient and also able to cope with periods of drought that may occur during the course of the year.
Our winery, refrigeration systems and entire winemaking and storage process are powered entirely by renewable energy, with panels that produce solar energy.
Our wines
The wines of Tenuta are born from the love for a unique territory and the desire to give back that ancient splendour, to give life to a project made of earth and passion,
in an extreme synthesis of purity and elegance.
